JuiceBox chargers were everywhere a few years ago, and the hardware itself is solid — 240V charging up to 48A, plug-in or hardwired, with a long cable. The catch is the company behind it: Enel X Way wound down its North American operations in late 2024, which threw the future of the JuiceBox app and cloud features into doubt. The unit will still charge your car, but treat the smart-charging side as uncertain and check the current state of support before you commit.

Enel X Way (JuiceBox's parent in North America) shut down US operations in late 2024. The chargers still work as basic Level 2 units, but smart features and warranty support may be unavailable. We list it because people search for it — not as a current recommendation.

The good

  • +Capable hardware up to 48A
  • +Plug-in or hardwired
  • +Long charging cable

The trade-offs

  • Enel X Way exited the US market in late 2024 — app/cloud support is uncertain
  • Buy with eyes open; confirm current support

What does it cost to install?

Whichever unit you choose, the install is the same job: a licensed electrician runs a dedicated 240V circuit, mounts and connects the charger, and handles the permit. The price tracks the cable run and whether your panel needs work — not the brand on the box. Get an instant estimate for your home, and check your state's rebates — many cover part of the cost.
